Religious or Spiritual? The fundamental difference between them

Image
By - Abhudai Pal Kabir, Mirabai, Gautam Buddha, Guru Nanak, Rumi, and many other mystics of the same ilk. Whenever their name surfaces my mind. I wonder whether they were religious or spiritual?  Meditating Buddha (Pic credit - Unsplash.com) Contemplating a lot, I arrived at the conclusion that calling them religious, isn’t justified. As their wisdom is for the entire mankind, irrespective of a person’s caste, creed, color, religion, race, mother tongue, and place of birth. The wisdom, they showered, is mentioned in various religious texts, in different forms.  What has changed with wisdom is word/medium/language, in which it is explained. What remains constant is the message of love towards fellow human beings, compassion for animals, be more giving, be helpful, finding your ultimate truth, etc. None of them were intolerant, irresolute, lethargic, irrational or unconvinced, about their outlook of the world, and their own life. They promoted love for all, and forgiveness for enemies.

Image
By - Abhudai Pal Have you ever thought, what was the main factor for Pandava’s Win in the Battle of Kurukshetra known as Mahabharta? The 5 brothers, Yudhistra, Bheem, Arjuna, Nakul, and Sehdev emerged as the undefeatable warriors of the war, famously known as Pandavas. The 5 brothers weren’t born from their mother's womb but were born of prayers to different gods. According to the Indian epic Mahabharata, Pandava’s mother Kunti received a boon from Sage Durvasa that by chanting the mantra followed by invoking the particular God she will be blessed with a baby boy from that GOD. Accordingly, when the time arrived and Kunti prayed to Lord Yamraj and she was blessed with Yudhistra.  Being the son of Yamraj, Yudhistra came to be known as Dharmraj – The epitome of righteousness. In this way her two other sons, Bheem and Arjun were born. Nakul and Sehdev were also born in this way by the 2 nd wife of Pandu, Madri. Kunti invoked Ashvins Kumar for Madri and she was blessed with twins. It

What is DHARMA? Lessons from the life of the greatest warrior BHISMA.

Image
By - Abhudai Pal He was the invincible, indefatigable and the greatest warrior of his time. He was the son of Maharaja Shantanu and River Ganges.  The stories of his valor were deep-rooted in the minds of his enemy. Even his Teacher Lord Parshuram wasn’t able to defeat him in a war. The Ganges Son Bhisma was the ardent follower of dharma. He denied being the King of Hastinapur just for the sake of his Stepmother Satyavati. She aspired to make her children the King. To fulfill her stepmother wish. Without an iota of doubt or hesitation, Bhisma committed himself to live an ascetic life and to serve as the Protector of Hastinapur throughout his life. For BHISM abiding by his commitments was his DHARMA. The magnanimous heart of Bhism permitted him to sacrifice Kingship for his parent's Happiness is one among the many sacrifices he made for his Dharma. He has only dream throughout life, to witness “ Justice and Dharma”  ruling on Hastinapur's Throne.  The commi

Why is OM the powerful word and will chanting of OM enhance the quality of your life?

Image
By - Abhudai Pal Om Namah Shivaya! Om Shanti! OM Namo Narayana! The common letter among plenty of the mantras of Hindu religion is OM. Have you ever ruminated about the significance of OM as a word?  Why almost every sacred mantra in Hinduism begins with OM? Is OM the word of GOD? Is OM considered sacred only in Hinduism, or some other religions too focus on the piousness of OM? Why is OM considered one of the most mysterious words and is often advised by the religious gurus to chant? When did OM come into existence? Does chanting of OM enhance the quality of an individual's life? Does chanting OM relate to cosmic connections of the universe? Does OM chanting have any scientific backing or is it just built on the assumptions of unquestionable faith? The Word OM is pronounced by Saints and Godmen, so POWER of OM must be significant. The traces of OM are just not found in Hindu Religious Texts but in Buddhism, Sikhism, and Jainism too. “In the beginning was the

Why you are what you are? Secret of your birth!

By- Abhudai Pal “We blindly copy each other, without realizing, Destiny had set different papers for us”. You must be curious to know why destiny set different paper for everyone. How time-consuming it must be and how ideal is destiny to set different paper for everyone? Often, the frustrations of your failure lead to the ignition of questions which challenge the logical understanding of life. It seems as if an invisible hand is operating the universe on its whims and fancies. Ignites you up to an extent that you blame GOD for every injustice you feel . Questions arises such as: Why you are born in this city/village/metropolitan/country? Why this couple is your parent? Why your parents aren’t so successful as you want? Why your friends are born rich, whereas you had to suffer for every task? Why you are not obtaining the satisfying result with the significant amount of hard work you put in? Is there a fault in your stars? Why you are destined to all fatal

By - Abhudai Pal   “When you were born, you cried and  the world rejoiced. Live your life so  that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice.”     Indian Proverb. People around you celebrated at your  birth i.e. they were happy, Is not  that a reason to be happy? Then  why does the world made the above quote akin  to vengeance i.e. they cry, you laugh etc. I believe the reason of people  happiness at your birth was,  "Welcome dear, within a few  years you will be like us". When you were born, you were unaware  of characteristics, which a re against the human intuition/ conscience. You were completely  unaware of sorrows, c heating, lying, jealousy, hatred, guilt, cursing other etc. You were born with love, affection, care,  honesty, truthfulness, companionship, enthusiasm, creativity, smile, helpfulness and  amiability. Why is it so? These are inbuilt  characteristics of humans designated  to you by the supreme authority. Hav
