Laziness - The most Effective Shortcut to self Destruction. Overcome laziness to enjoy life.

By - Abhudai Pal

“A life of leisure and life of laziness are two things; there will be sleeping enough in the grave”.
The words of Benjamin are apt to differentiate “Leisure” and “Laziness”. Leisure is assumed to have possession of materialistic things and one had to work no more for the future.

If an individual has some luxuries in his/her life. You think how fortunate is he/she? They need not work anymore and can enjoy their life comfortably. This assumption is erroneous.

When the thoughts of working no more sink in, it leads to the problem of failure. The lackadaisical attitude of an individual makes him LAZY and, LAZINESS is the best friend of “FAILURE”.
Laziness is taking more rest than the acceptable requirement of the body. The problem of laziness starts with having nothing to do but ends up doing nothing when a task is at hand.

I have a litmus test for laziness. Do check, are you lazy?
When you wake up if you feel refreshed/ rejuvenated/ excited. If your mind is calm, quiet, serene, then you had taken appropriate rest which is mandatory for the well-being of your body and soul.

Contrary to this, if you feel “Low, remorseful, feeble, your mind chatters a lot, had all negative thoughts, your body aches”.
Then undoubtedly what you feel is “LAZINESS” and “Repetition of the process for 30-40 days” will make you lazy. You will find ways to get rid of this habit, but you won’t be able, because you formed a habit unconsciously.
Is there anything to be worried about laziness?
Yes, You must worry because excessive sleeping harms your body, your brain becomes dormant, the sleep of 12-16 hours a day induces an inferiority complex in you, and you feel like “I am good for nothing”.
Be Careful, if you are in the midst of this situation. You must cure it because the next step after laziness is DEPRESSION. Once you are in a DEPRESSION phase, suicidal thoughts seep in and with time the intensity of your thoughts amplifies, thus your chance of executing these thoughts (SUICIDAL) rises.

Thus laziness which you assumed not a “PROBLEM in beginning”, carries the potential of SUICIDE. If you find any of the above-mentioned characteristics in your friend circle. Warn them!
I don’t want more success, I am happy the way my life is!
Is it your situation?

Let it be, you don’t want more success that’s okay. But do you want to step down from the existing step of your ladder? No, Thus, resist “LAZINESS” because it cost the depreciation of your asset i.e. BRAIN. So, not to live an extraordinary life, to live an ordinary life, LAZINESS and you MUST be the opposite side of POLES.
Remember, as the duty of heart is to pump blood, your brain too needs some work, you had to replace the LAZINESS habit with some task for your own life.
If you are type of “I drop everything like a hot potato, I am worthless”. Then remember, the word of Steve Jobs “Don’t settle for less, Keep looking as it is a matter of the heart”.

Develop a strong belief that you can Change.  If you become afflicted by LAZINESS unconsciously it will become your habit; here is the catch.
You weren’t lazy since your birth; your body learned it from continuous repetition, in the same manner, you can learn to be active.
HABITS CAN BE FORMED WITH YOUR CONSCIOUS EFFORT

PRACTICAL WISDOM

1- Leisure and Laziness are two different things.

3- Laziness starts with having nothing to do but ends doing nothing even at work.

4- Laziness carries the potential of DEPRESSION and SUICIDIAL TENDENCIES.
